Five Months

Wow. It’s been five months since my last blog entry. I guess I should update this thing, huh? What have I been up to?

NEW WORK

I’ve continued my contract gig with the fine folks at Success Partners. They have a really talented team, and I’ve been lucky to work beside them for the past few months. I’ve gotten to do some fun work for them, including some editorial design, which is something I hadn’t done much of in the past. You can see some examples here and here.

I’ve also been working closely with their publication team in adapting some of their magazines to an online format. The newest example of this is Essential Oils Magazine. The print version of the Fall 2016 issue is an absolutely gorgeous piece — gorgeous enough to win Success Partners an Addy, in fact — so I had a great foundation upon which to build. You can see the results here.

AVOCODE

In other news, I’ve been playing around with Avocode lately. It’s a really powerful tool that allows you to open Photoshop or Sketch files and quickly and easily generate CSS, as well as export images, fonts, colors, styles, and more. It greatly streamlines the workflow from design to development. You can check it out with a 14-day free trial. If Web and/or UI is your thing, I highly recommend you give it a go.

AIGA DFW

For the past year or so, I’ve been involved with the Communications Team for the Dallas/Fort Worth chapter of the AIGA. It’s a great organization, full of passionate and hard-working people. Not to even mention the awesome benefits that come with being a member of the AIGA, like free workshops, guest speakers, social get-togethers, discounts on all kinds stuff, and professional networking events. Next week, for example, they are hosting a Behance Portfolio Review where you can get feedback on your work from some of DFW's most experienced creative professionals. You can learn more about it here. You can become a member of AIGA here.

EVELYN

My daughter will be ten months old in a few weeks. Ten months! Man, did that go by in a blink! She’s got four teeth, my mother’s eyes, her mother’s sweet disposition, and a smile that just melts my heart.
